A tradition that is learned, lived and shared...
VianaFestas is committed to promoting the festival throughout the year, organising a series of workshops entitled ‘Somos Todos Romaria’ dedicated to the knowledge, crafts and traditions that make the Romaria d'Agonia the largest pilgrimage in Portugal.
This initiative invites the public to discover and experience arts related to costumes, jewellery and popular traditions. It reinforces the transmission of knowledge between generations, contributing to the preservation of living heritage.

‘Arte do Bem Trajar e Ourar’ (The Art of Dressing Well and Wearing Gold) is a training programme consisting of three workshops. It was developed in response to the need to deepen knowledge of the rules of traditional dress, and to promote the importance of rigour in preserving tradition, in terms of both the manufacture of products and their presentation.
In view of the growing public interest and demand, the initiative aims to share knowledge about dressing well and the characteristics and distinctions of each costume. The initiative aims to provide knowledge about the art of certified filigree and give people the opportunity to experience this centuries-old craft in order to appreciate the intense manual labour involved.
A partnership between VianaFestas and Inês Barbosa, Lda., a national reference in certified filigree.
What you will learn:
• Certified filigree craft techniques
• Direct application to silver wire
• Customisation of an exclusive piece
Inês Barbosa, a member of the fifth generation of a family with links to traditional Portuguese jewellery-making in Póvoa do Lanhoso, will lead the workshops. The family still preserves ancestral techniques, tools and production methods.
ORIENTATION
From the age of 13, Inês Barbosa was raised in an environment of sparking files and hot metal, working alongside her father and eventually becoming his apprentice and right-hand woman. Guided by her love of tradition and her desire to honour her family's legacy, she founded her own jewellery workshop in 1993. Today, after more than 30 years, Inês Barbosa sees her dream flourishing with the same light that inspired it. This dream is now being continued by her two daughters, who are following in their family's footsteps and perpetuating the art of Portuguese filigree with the same love and dedication. Distinctions such as the title of Master of Excellence in the Art and Technique of Filigree have established the name Inês Barbosa as a symbol of authenticity, elegance and mastery, rooted in her homeland of Póvoa de Lanhoso, where this art has been telling stories for over two thousand years.

‘Arte em Flor’ (Art in Blossom) is a training programme consisting of three workshops that will explore the various techniques used to create devotional flowers. The programme was developed in response to the need to preserve this endangered art form and ensure its continuity through future generations.
The initiative aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of the techniques and multiple applications of devotional flowers. This will promote appreciation of the flowers as part of the traditional craft associated with the "Romaria" and the 'à Vianesa' costume.
